Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reserve a puppy?

Placement begins with completing the Puppy Placement Screener.

From there, we will review your responses, follow up as needed, and discuss next steps. If approved, reservation details and timing will be outlined based on the current or upcoming litter.

How are puppies selected and placed?

Puppy placement is based on a combination of temperament, structure, individual development, and household needs.

While preferences are considered, final placement decisions are made to ensure the best long-term fit for both the puppy and the family.

When can puppies go home?

Puppies are typically ready to go home at 8 weeks of age, depending on development and scheduling.

Additional time may be arranged if extended training or specific placement considerations are requested.

Do you offer service dog prospects?

Some puppies may be suitable as service or working prospects, but this cannot be guaranteed at a young age.

We focus on producing dogs with strong foundational traits — health, stability, and trainability — which are necessary for advanced work.

Final outcomes depend on continued development, training, and environment.

Do you ship puppies?

We do not ship puppies in cargo holds.

While many breeders utilize cargo transport, we prioritize keeping each puppy in a controlled, monitored environment during travel.

If air travel is required, puppies must travel in-cabin with a person.

For families who are unable to travel, a member of Aurum Purus Goldens can accompany the puppy and fly with them to their destination. This option is available at an additional cost and is outlined in the purchase contract.

How does travel work?

Many of our families travel from out of state.

We work closely with each family to coordinate pickup, which may include in-person pickup, meeting partway depending on distance and scheduling, or airport handoff coordination.

If air travel is required, puppies must travel in-cabin with a person.

For families unable to travel, a member of Aurum Purus Goldens can accompany the puppy and fly with them to their destination for an additional cost, as outlined in the purchase contract.

What is included with my puppy?

Each puppy goes home with a structured Gotcha’ Package that includes health records, starter food, familiar comfort items, and training resources.

You can view the full breakdown on the Puppies page.

Do you provide ongoing support?

Yes.

We provide lifetime support for questions during transition, training guidance, and general development.

We remain a resource throughout your dog’s life.

Are there health guarantees?

Yes.

Our program includes a 2-year guarantee against hip and elbow dysplasia and a lifetime guarantee against several congenital conditions.

Full details are provided in your contract.

Do you require anything from new owners?

Yes — we expect owners to establish care with a veterinarian, follow appropriate feeding, exercise, and health guidelines, and delay spay/neuter until at least 2 years of age.
